increasing national awareness of work by Scottish artists!

auction sales are now returning increasingly higher prices for Scotland's best known artists. jack vettriano's 'singing butler' attracted the highest price ever for a Scottish artist at a recent sale. peter howson continues to find favour with many buyers. others, like john cunningham, anne redpath, joan eardley and elizabeth blackadder, are conspicuous in sales by the high demond for all but the lesser examples.

in the comments section of this website I will endeavour to analyse up to fifty mainly 20th century and contemporary Scottish artists' work which currently sells at auction. collated above are some of those artists whose work sells at the main Scottish auctions. but perhaps more importantly the object of this excercise is to identify what attracts collectors and admirers to the genre of Scottish art.

so hopefully within these pages I will be able to construct a document which deals with art4most people.
